SINGAPORE
INSURANCE EMPLOYEES’ UNION ( SIEU )
The
Singapore Insurance Employees’ Union was registered on 31st October
1955.
In the
early years, the Union was primarily engaged in solving bread
and butter issues. Though Industrial Relations is still the
mainstay of the Union, the present challenge is for SIEU to
remain relevant to the changing needs and aspirations of its
membership. This task calls for our Union leaders to have
innovative ideas; commitment and dedication to workers welfare;
and position for a progressive, strong and caring Union.
The Union
is committed to the economic prosperity of our nation and
will maintain a harmonious and co-operative tripartite relationship
for the betterment of our members. We share the members’ dream
of enjoying a higher standard of living and a better quality
of life.
The SIEU,
affiliated to the NTUC, has more than 6,000 members as at August 2005. The union represents more than 2,500 Ordinary Branch members
from around 30 insurance companies operating in Singapore.
