All
working persons can join NTUC as union members, except for personnel in
MINDEF, the SAF, Police and the Civil Defence Force. Note: CISCO
personnel are now eligible to join as union members. The Union represents Ordinary members (OB) in wage negotiations and workplace issues. General Branch (GB)
members do not have such representation rights and some other services
from SIEU. However, they enjoy the same social benefits from only NTUC,
e.g NTUC Fairprice rebates, NTUC Card, chalets, access to Golf
privileges and NTUC Club facilities. Most
executives may join SIEU as OB members to enjoy partial representation.
Since September 2002, the law has been amended to allow partial
