Story
we aim to establish a caring, cohesive and progressive union where leaders and members work as
a team not only to serve our members better but also to
provide quality service to employers
| Protecting
the rights of workers and their jobs in the industry has
been our mission since 1955. More than four decades later
today, the union's basic objectives remain unchanged.
In the early years, we were primarily engaged in solving
bread and butter issues. Now however, present challenges
for SIEU demands us to remain relevant while members'
aspirations and needs evolve along with the whole of society.
For our leaders to be innovative, steadfast and dedicated
to members' welfare, we must be committed to the Nation's
economic prosperity while maintaining a harmonious as
well as co-operative tripartite relationship. We share
a common Singapore dream, to achieve higher standards
of living and better quality of life. |

SIEU is
affiliated to the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC). The
current membership strength of our union is more than 6,000
comprising both Ordinary and General branch members from 32
insurance and other related companies in Singapore. SIEU is
also affiliated to Union Network International (UNI), a global
union federation representing 15 million workers through more
than 900 unions in 150 countries. Through such fraternal affiliation,
SIEU has benefited with opportunities to participate in conferences,
educational and training activities.
Following
Singapore's vision for the 21st century, we aim to establish
a caring, cohesive and progressive union where leaders and
members work as a team not only to serve our members better
but also to provide quality service to employers. SIEU encourages
open communication, constructive management of conflicts and
expectations. In our shared SIEU
21 vision, we hope to have forward-thinking workers in
an insurance industry consciously and purposefully going for
multi-skill training achieving better productivity in the
workplace. In this, we aspire to secure a future for members
realising a better life for you and I.
